Far from the bustling beaches, deep in the hinterlands of North Goa, sits an endearing village with its pretty, winding roads and laid-back life - Aldona is what Goa used to be before the crowds took over.
Covered in endless stretches of rice paddies and tranquil riverine backwaters, this typical Goan village is where many writers find their inspiration. Tucked away somewhere amidst the wonders of this charming village is an extra-ordinary luxury home overlooking sweeping fields and Aldona’s calming backwaters through its bold all-glass front facade, aptly called The Glass Villa.
A wall-free lounge area, embraced by an infinity pool and lawns that appear to be floating over the pristine backwaters, forms the perfect place to observe the bucolic surroundings. Living here is like being a part of a fairy-tale: Magical sunrises set the the tone for the rest of the day: a muster of peacocks in the fields, electric blue kingfishers swooping from the trees and balmy afternoons with tiny sunbirds hovering over the pool.

THE SPACE
Goa has so much to offer. From its serene backwaters, untouched wilderness and expansive beaches, quaint architecture and historical monuments—there's a sight to behold just about everywhere. A glass house, therefore, particularly one that offers a 360-degree peek onto its surrounding views, makes much sense within this gorgeous setting.
The Glass Villa has been conceptualised by ace designer Tarun Tahiliani, and takes its design cues from the trees and the wondrous landscape that surrounds it. A corbelled laterite (a local stone found in the western ghats) walkway leads to an open-to-the-sky courtyard dominated by two towering teak and strychnine trees and a custom-made Natraj. The courtyard forms the backdrop of a double-height living room with an enormous sunken seating island. An all-glass front overlooking a massive 25m x 6m private pool and the enchanting backwaters blurs the line between the outdoors and indoors. Folding glass walls connect the central seating area with the dining hall and the TV lounge on either side.
The outdoor poolside area with a perfectly landscaped garden is encapsulated by palm trees for privacy and is the perfect place for a hearty breakfast or laid-back sun-downers.
Despite its modern design choices, the house retains its old-school Goan vibe through its decor, rustic antiques and attention to detail.
THE ROOMS
With a double-height living room, a sunken seating pit and a dining around a cluster of trees almost at the level of water, the Glass House has been conceptualized across two levels.
The villa houses 04 well-appointed palatial bedrooms. Just as the rest of the house, the bedrooms have been styled in a way that merges the outdoors and indoors through natural design, understated with accents of opulence: laterite walls, exhuisite beddings, antique chandeliers and floor-to-ceiling glass walls showcasing a terrarium.
Each room is centrally air-conditioned, with private look-outs and en-suite washrooms that come with elegant bath fittings.

The culinary experiences offered include delicacies from a French and a Sushi chef on call, and an in-house chef for premium home style food, all of which could be enjoyed along with the performance by a musician an on call. A quaint "Cafe Lovie" could be your morning walk destination.

Fresh grocery, fish, prawns are fun to buy in the village and get cooked to taste by the in-house chef.

While away at the villa and let the magical landscape enchant you or explore Aldona's best kept secrets in more than one way.
Stroll along the colorful Portuguese homes and old river bridges of Aldona, go kayaking in the backwaters of Moira (we recommend sunset time at Colvale), drive along the river route from Aldona to Panjim, sample traditional Goan food at neighborhood family-run restaurants, take the ferry across the river to the sleepy Chorao island or ride through the pretty lanes of Aldona on a guided cycling tour.
Explore the art and museum scene; head to the Cube Gallery or the historic St. Thomas Church and Corjuem Fort. Discover the vintage bars of Panjim on a bar-hopping trip or experience the South Goan vibe on a full-day trip.
If after all this, you still find the urge to head to a beach, the popular beaches of Anjuna, Vagator and Morjim are just under an hour away.
